Choose exactly what viewers need to see and hear

Screen sharing shows other people the game as it appears on your device; it does not give them control or connect their game to yours. Use it to demonstrate a puzzle, watch a friend play, or talk through a game together when the title has no shared room. The exact choice—browser tab, app window, or full desktop—changes what viewers can see and sometimes what audio is transmitted. Test the share before inviting a group.

Choose a tab or window deliberately

If the game lives in one browser tab, sharing that tab can keep unrelated windows out of view. Google Meet's help page notes that sharing features differ between a Chrome tab and a window or desktop, including audio and viewer controls. Discord documents sharing an application window or the whole screen in a voice call. Check the current platform instructions because browser and operating-system support changes.

Close private messages, payment pages, personal tabs, and notification previews before sharing. Select the game window explicitly, confirm its title in the share picker, and watch the viewer preview if available. Avoid sharing the entire desktop when a single tab or window is enough.

Test sound, resolution and control delay

Start a short share with one person. Ask whether text is readable, whether game audio is included, and whether motion is clear. Some platforms offer audio when presenting a browser tab but have different behavior for a full desktop; do not assume the call will capture sound automatically. Lower the game's resolution or frame detail only if the viewer needs a clearer stream and the platform allows it.

Screen-share video can arrive after the player sees the action. Use it for observation and discussion, not as proof that viewers can react in sync or participate in the game. For a real match, each person needs a game-supported shared session or local controls.

Set expectations with viewers

Tell people whether they are watching, giving advice, or taking turns. If you want them to play, pass a supported game invite rather than the screen-share link alone. Stop sharing when the demo ends, and remember that meeting hosts or channel permissions can affect who is allowed to present.

Questions about screen sharing a browser game

Can friends control my game through screen sharing?

Ordinary screen sharing lets people view a captured tab or window. Remote control requires a separate feature or service, and the game itself still needs multiplayer support for shared play.

Should I share the whole desktop or just the game tab?

Choose the narrowest view that shows what your audience needs. A tab or app window reduces unrelated private information; check the platform's audio and compatibility behavior first.
