Prompt a Heist Puzzle Around Roles and Timing

A heist fantasy can become a clear planning puzzle without a large cast or action system. Pick a target, one security pattern and two complementary roles. The prompt should show what each role can do and give the player a chance to plan before execution, so success depends on connecting observations with a route.

Write the prompt around a playable rule

The prompt gives each role one distinct ability and uses turn planning to make timing readable. Show the camera path and guard cones before action selection. Keep the target and exit marked. A first room should require using Scout or Runner once, not both abilities in a complex chain, so the player can see what each role contributes.

Original concept prompt: “Make a top-down museum heist puzzle with two characters: Scout can reveal guard sight lines for one turn; Runner can move two tiles. Security cameras sweep a fixed path. Plan one action for each character, then execute the turn. Reach the display case and exit without entering a visible cone.” This is a recipe for an idea, not a claim that this exact game is already playable.

Play, observe and refine one thing at a time

Try reaching the case with and without using Scout. Check whether revealed sight lines match the camera’s actual detection and whether Runner moves exactly two tiles. If the execution feels surprising, preview the route before committing. Replay with a different order of actions to see whether planning produces a meaningful trade-off.

Introduce a new security device only after the role actions are understood. A timed door can create a coordination puzzle, but avoid adding a new role and a new hazard together. If the room is too easy, create a safe route that costs more turns and a risky shortcut that requires better timing.

Do not make stealth detection invisible or instantaneous. Show the risky tile before the player commits. If an ability only decorates the plan and never changes the outcome, give it a precise use or remove it from the prompt.

Playable reference for this prompt: Stone Keep. Build and upgrade walls, archer towers, cannons and gold mines around your island keep, then alternate rounds: hurl catapult stones at landing raiders to defend it, and drop knights on the shore to raid enemy camps for stars and gold. Use this example to compare the proposed rules with a game you can try now. For your version, use this check: Does controlling two characters require multiplayer?

Questions about heist game prompt

Does controlling two characters require multiplayer?

No. This recipe has one player plan both characters in a turn. Describe it as a solo coordination puzzle unless you explicitly choose a different design.

When should guard detection be evaluated?

Define the order of character movement, camera movement and detection. Test both characters crossing a watched tile during the same turn.
